Located half an hour south of Cooktown, Trevethan Falls is nestled into the mountains away from the usual scenic areas of Cooktown.
Turn off the Mulligan Highway and onto Mt Amos Road, follow the dirt track for 9.7km, the road will split, turn right there are some signs telling you the falls are to the right, about 500m after this take the track to the right, then another 2.9km and take the track to the left, there is no defined parking area, the road will come to an end at a circular turn around point. You're able to then walk up the small hill and follow the path down to the falls, the track is no more than 400m.
There is a rope swing on the right hand side of the falls you can have fun on, as well as climbing up onto the rocks under the waterfall. These rocks are very slippery and covered in moss but refreshing to sit on under the water falling from above.
