Mowbray Falls

These falls are not exactly those of the Mowbray River but instead from a creek that runs off it. At almost the end of the scenic drive from Cairns to Port Douglas is Trezise Rd, if you take this turn off and follow it to the end it links up with Connolly Rd. At the end of this road is the Bump Track for those wishing to mountain bike down or potentially ride up or even go for a hike to explore, traveling any further is private property stopping you at the Bump Track.

From here I cycled along the private property road, which ends up taking you to the owners house, after asking if I had permission to be on the land I continued. The trip to the start of the creek takes you across at least 2 creek crossings. If its been raining be prepared that the water will be high and flowing. The final part of the ride after the 2 creek crossings takes you through open grassland where you can then spot an entrance to the creek.

The next 600m is rock hopped many of these rocks are extremely slippery due to the build up of algae and moss from being in the rainforest. At the end your rewarded with a beautiful waterfall where you can swim at the base in the rock pools.
