Copperlode Falls

If you're traveling up to Copperlode Dam after a bit of rain you will see several waterfalls cascading down the rocks on your way up. The falls I'm referring to are the ones about 100m past the lookout over the Cairns city. If you park here you can walk up to these falls which come crashing down the mountain side. If you want to brave crawling and scrambling through the long grass and and slippery rocks there is to some extent a 'track' up the right hand side of the falls. You can follow this up to the a flat rock where the water slightly pools before falling again (top photo).

On top of the falls
You can continue up to the very top by just scrambling up the side of the mountain, which will take you through plenty of spiderwebs. You will need to go round to the right to avoid the slippery rocks of the falls, once you get up high enough it will slowly start to turn into a rolling hill instead of the 35 degree climb at the start. Once at this stage you are able to start heading back left to the falls where you will now find yourself above them.

Following the creek further up you will be rewarded with smaller waterfalls and small pools where you are able to swim. Just make sure to remember the track you made, otherwise the climb down could become a bit hairy, these falls are probably only worth climbing after a decent amount of rain has fallen.
