Behana Gorge is well known for its fantastic swimming spots. The turnoff from the Bruce Highway is 6km south of the Gillies Highway down Behana Gorge Road.
To get to these swimming spots you first must endure a 4km walk along a concrete path with more humps than a camel race. The walk is hot and humid under the rainforest canopy which makes the swim at the end feel even more rewarding.
To speed the trip up and make it easier on yourself I advise to get the bicycle out and ride the concrete path, there will be times you get exhausted on the way up and may still walk some small sections but it is still easier and quicker than walking. On the upside the trip back down takes no longer than 5mins on a bike.
